Barefoot Cove is a small Lake Keowee enclave in West Union where the defining feature is straightforward: most of the community is oriented to the water, and the neighborhood consistently presents as a shoreline-driven setting with open lake views, private dock potential, and oversized homesites for a lake address. Ten of the 12 recorded listings are waterfront, and the homesites generally run from about two-thirds of an acre to just over one acre.

The completed homes in Barefoot Cove are recent builds, with the recorded housing stock running from 2020 to 2022. The home listings describe open main living areas, tall or cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors, quartz or granite surfaces, covered porches, screened outdoor rooms, and main-level primary suites. Basements are also common in the built homes, usually as walk-out lower levels that add recreation space, guest rooms, storage, or unfinished expansion area. Garage presence is concentrated in the existing homes as well, with two-car configurations showing up repeatedly.

Price points reflect the split between improved lake homes and buildable homesites. Closed and active listings range from $25,000 for an off-water lot to $1.465 million for a finished lakefront residence, while the marketed homes themselves have traded from the mid-$500s to just over $1 million. The upper end is tied to features such as deep water, covered docks or private piers, larger finished lower levels, and broad outdoor living setups that include decks, screened porches, patios, and sunrooms.

Amenities & Lifestyle

Barefoot Cove does not read as an amenity-driven master-planned community. Its appeal is the lake itself. Marketing emphasizes kayaking, fishing, swimming, paddleboarding, sandy shoreline pockets, and dock-ready waterfront homesites more than any clubhouse, pool, or court package. Several lots mention dock permits, deep-water access, or generous frontage, and one recent listing highlights a new gangway and covered dock positioned for quicker access to deeper water.

Architecturally, the neighborhood reads as a mix of newer custom or semi-custom lake homes and a meaningful inventory of buildable lots. Craftsman influences appear in the marketing, and exterior descriptions point to stone and siding rather than a single uniform material palette. The result is a community with a newer-build look, but without the repetition that comes with large production developments.
