Gowans Fort is a gated equestrian community in Gowensville, just below Hogback Mountain, where roughly 30 large-acre homesites create one of Landrum's more spacious residential settings. Parcels run from about 2.8 to 12.7 acres, and the strongest offerings combine mountain-view homesites with direct access to more than two miles of private riding and walking trails.

Built homes span from 2001 through the early 2010s, with a new proposed build currently bringing fresh custom construction back to the neighborhood. The housing character leans decidedly custom rather than production, with vaulted ceilings, stone fireplaces, hardwood floors, screened porches, granite kitchens, and main-level primary suites appearing again and again. One estate sale paired a 4-stall barn and efficiency apartment with direct trail access, while another offered a 3-stall barn, automatic waterers, and extra acreage.

The landscape strengthens that identity. Wooded sections, mountain laurel, mature hardwoods, and open pasture clearings frame much of the community, and several homesites were positioned for long views toward Hogback or Glassy Mountain. Small creeks and occasional Pacolet River edges add another natural layer on select parcels, particularly where the terrain falls away enough for walk-out lower levels or broad decks facing the mountains.
