The kitchen is equipped with 42 egin{abstract} This paper describes our system which won the first prize out of 12 teams in the Memes and Political Discourse (MAPD) detection task, organized as part of the MediaEval 2022 challenge.

This task asks for the detection of offensive content and multimodal disagreement in social media memes. Our approach models this as a classification task which takes meme images and associated metadata as input. We trained several classification models to predict the class labels.

Our final system consists of a gradient boosting classifier trained on handcrafted features extracted from the image and metadata, combined with predictions from a fine-tuned VisualBERT model using late fusion. Our system achieved a mean $ ext{F}_1$ score of 0.520 on the MAPD test dataset, surpassing the second-place team by 0.
